Bravus Mining and Resources statement on inaccurate and misleading claims about our business by anti-fossil fuel think tank The Australia Institute
On 16 October 2025, The Guardian Australia reported on misinformation about our business and royalty payments published by anti-fossil fuel think tank ‘The Australia Institute’.
We wholly reject the incorrect and misleading claims in the report which was authored by a long-standing opponent of our business and of Australia’s export coal industry.
We have paid all royalties owed to the State on the coal we have exported from our Carmichael mine near Clermont in central Queensland and are proud to have done so.
Below is the statement provided to The Guardian Australia.
The following is attributable to a Bravus Mining and Resources spokesperson:
“The Australia Institute’s claims about our royalty payments are incorrect and we reject them entirely.
“Bravus Mining and Resources has paid all coal royalties owed to the State of Queensland.
“The Australia Institute’s assumptions about our business are wrong and rely on mismatched data, incorrect assumptions and back-of-a-napkin math.
“This is just the latest instalment in the anti-fossil fuel movement’s misinformation campaign to try to shut Australia’s coal export industry down.
“We’re proud to operate in regional Queensland and provide secure jobs and opportunities for local businesses that drive economic and social prosperity in the communities our people call home.”
